I did a lot of work on putting the annotations back in today, and I think it's close, but there's still quite a few things to do to make it complete and robust.  I wrote a lot of comments about it on the ticket:  https://github.com/NCBITools/DtdAnalyzer/issues/3.  Feedback welcome!

Oh, and the code is still in a branch -- the "annotations" branch -- if you want to look at it.

I'll attach a sample of the output here -- not sure if google groups email list will let me do that or not.

Cheers!

i was workimg on a ppt for the presentation and i think a devent structure maybe
1) intro to the tooland demo the dtd comparison report (i updated fot new contextmodel)
2) high level tech overview of xml representation to explain how comparison works; describe/show commandlines
3) transition to annotations and documemtation: demo and overview
4) transition to schematron as example of scriptong
5) future directions and open to questions

i thought i could present 1& 2, then handoff to chris for 3,audrey for 4, then maybe chris for 5 since he is the keeper of the open sourcr projrct.

if each part is around 8 minutes! i think that will fit the allotted time.

i'll try to get a batch of ppts out this week on 1 & 2,

workable?

Demian, this looks pretty good to me, but I'm just not sure about me doing the final part.  I don't mind, but it seems that it is your baby, and you also have more experience in the practical applications.  I don't mind, but it seems like it would be more appropriate for you to do it.  We can all help with fielding questions, I would think, regardless of who does this last part. We don't have to decide right away -- we can work on the slides first, I guess.

As far as medium, have you had a chance to check out deck.js (http://imakewebthings.com/deck.js)?  It looks very snazzy, I think, and might be a nice change from PPT.

Cheers!

If you guys like the way deck.js looks, and are willing to give it a try, I could work up a skeleton presentation based on Demian’s outline here, and we could put it into the repo at /etc/jatscon2012-slides.

We could simultaneously work on the *content* of the slides in some other medium, like a Google doc, and then import it into deck.js format at the end.

Let me know if you think this is a good plan, or have some other ideas!

It's a nice app for making slides, but I would rather stick to trried and true powerpoints so i can simply concentrate on creating a presentation and not be distracted by anything else--esp. worrying if the deck.js will crap out on the computer/browser i'm presenting on.

However, I will switch over to using a google docs presentation so we can collaborate on the slides. When done. i'll export at a pptx for use on a laptop.
