I had some issues with mail not dequeueing from the SMTP security server's
spool directory on an NT 3064 installed (which was installed directly over
3.0b, no patches). The CP support folks asked if I had installed over 3.0b
directly, or over 3045.. Apparently there were issues if you went to 3064
without first stopping at 3045. Perhaps 3072 is the same way....

What OS, OS version and hardware ??

I apologize for omitting this info.
It was on a Windows NT 4.0 machine with SP3. I do not know if any
other patches were applied before they applied 3072.
Have had zero problems since the installation.
Will continue to test and will post updates.

without warning also ;-(
