Is there any reason at all to stop the firewall prior to doing a tape
backup? Are there any files that are in an unstable state which would
prevent the firewall from coming back up from a tape restore. Should I
do a "fw stop" prior to backup or does it matter?
As always thanks very much,
Jack

Hi Jack,
When doing tape backup, it is recommended that you go into single-user
mode. The filesystem is much more
stable that way. I recommend using 'ufsdump'
