The Journal for People’s Studies (JPS) calls for abstracts for its next issue on the theme “Development and Social Justice” Development is the essence of any nation. It is not a mere concept or a standalone philosophy divorced from the socio-economic and political factors of any given context. In most of the cases, discussion around development is reduced to a mere objective political agenda or at the best a topic to be discussed during policy discourses. There is hardly any subjective outlook from the viewpoint of justice, freedom, equality and human rights. Development of a citizenry is not possible till the issue of social justice is addressed alongside.
Social justice is a complex web of interconnected and interdependent aspects which need to be taken into account and worked to evolve a development agenda based on justice and peace. In such a context development and social justice delve deep into the shared obligation to understand and deliver freedom, liberty, human rights, dignity both as collective and individuals. For a truly just and peace loving society, it is imperative that issues concerning the most marginalised groups are given priority.
The next issue of JPS endeavours to scientifically explore the relationship, interlink and inter-dependency of development and social justice cutting across nations and communities across the globe. It would be looked through the prism of historically oppressed and marginalised groups, minorities, gender justice, social exclusion, agrarian crises and other such like issues. The broad theme “Development and Social Justice” include sub themes such as –
Development and Marginalisation Development and Oppression Development and Minorities (ethnic, religious, linguistic, sexual, etc.) Development, Justice and Children Inclusive Justice or Exclusive Development Development, Social Justice and Exclusion Gender Concerns in Development Development and Women's Empowerment Development, Land and Marginalised groups State, Development and Agrarian crisis Oppressed/ Marginalised Women, Development and Justice Gender Discrimination in Development Intervention Development as Freedom Development as Eco- Spirituality Development as Self-rule Development as Social and Distributive Justice Development as Distribution of values Development as Democratic engagement Development as Culture Development as Human Rights
JPS welcomes abstracts on any of the above given themes or any other related theme that you find could be part of the broader theme of the issue. Interested persons are requested to go through the guidelines for more details. Any paper without following the style of writing would be rejected. Any submission after the deadline at any stage will not be entertained, unless it is reasonably communicated with the editorial collective or editors. Due to the large number of submissions, only those whose abstracts are shortlisted would be notified.
