We are seeking a Research Associate to be located in Kurkheda, Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra as part of a project on forest governance, and in particular, on the role of Community Forest Resource rights under Forest Rights Act (FRA) in meeting multiple goals of livelihood security, forest restoration, and biodiversity conservation.
For this project, headed by Prof. Ashwini Chhatre, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, the RA will work closely with the federation of Gram Sabhas in Korchi taluka. The RA will be part of a large team of researchers in the lab of Prof. Ashwini Chhatre working on different aspects of forest governance.
The work involves designing and implementing data collection in collaboration with the Korchi Maha Gram Sabha to estimate the value of forest products generated under CFR regimes. This will include surveys, mapping, market research, and qualitative case studies for multiple forest products such as mahua, honey, gum, aonla, behera, harada, jamun, etc.
