Let's continue this thread on "DataTorrent Users Group" <dt-u...@googlegroups.com> as the topic is specific to DataTorrent RTS and not related to Apache Apex.

Hello,

When you download the latest binary (for RTS 3.8.0), it also asks you to download license file.

If you already have the free license file, downloaded from DataTorrent website, please upload it in the UI and you'll be able to access the full functionality up to 128GB of processing capacity and community email support.

Let us know if this helps.

Thanks,

Hi Team,

We are using DataTorrentRTS 3.4.0 community edition to run apex applications.

When I tried to download and install 3.8.0, I see the many of the features in the DataTorrent UI are not available now with 3.8.0 Free Edition which are available in 3.4.0 community edition.

Some of the tabs like LOGICAL, PHYSICAL, STRAM etc tabs are not visibile for me in 3.8.0 which are available in 3.4.0.

Can someone please help me if these features are not available for community/free edition?

Thanks a lot.

Regards,

Raja.

Hi-

The Free Edition license entitles you to use DataTorrent RTS with full functionality up to a limit of 128GB for non-production use.   Furthermore, the Free Edition license only includes support on a best-effort basis via this forum.   If you need a support SLA for either non-production or production deployment, we recommend that you consider upgrading to a commercial license.

Essentially, we are giving away DataTorrent RTS Free Edition because we want you to be able to experience the full capability RTS, develop your streaming applications, and explore the power of Apache Apex.   But when you are ready to deploy RTS into production, we kindly ask that you also consider a commercial license since at that point you are getting value from our product to run your business.

Kind regards,

Can you please elaborate on 128gb capacity. I couldn’t get how this processing capacity will effect my Apex application I will trigger in the environment.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Raja,

RTS sums the total of all running applications.  There is a list of licensing FAQ in 3.8 release notes.
