I'm sending Salil's message to all and sundry, and especially the teachers, but not to the people who are most likely to  respond by actually doing some work - that is to say - the students.

One of the reasons is that the only students I can send this to, are my own students, (as Vividh is currently in Pune and probably on his way back to Goa) and those teachers which had in our 11 June 2014 meeting at Dempo College including Glenis Mendonca, Dr. Cidalia Bodade, Anita Fernandes,Vividh Pawaskar, Subhash Kamalkar, Sunita Mesquita and M.S. Shanthi who had warmly welcomed the idea of having a common mailing list for all students of SYBCom Business Communication have not yet responded.

Anyway Salil, Vividh will be back tomorrow and will be enrolling his students, and if the others do not join, I'll be forwarding your post to the students then.

I'm sure that between S.S.Dempo College of Commerce & Economics and Shree Mallikarjun College of Arts and Commerce our students will be able to transcribe the remaining 2 videos.

Regards
Augustro

Augusto:

I think there are too many lists now, I'm not sure where this should be posted, but please pass this on to the others:

Attached are three subtitle files for the Movie Maker videos tutorials, which were given as part of the DST Kit for the DST Workshops. They correspond to the first 3 Movie Maker video tutorials - you'll see that their names match the names of the corresponding tutorials, It is very important that the names match exactly for the subtitles to work, so do make sure this is the case. Only the extension of the files will be different - the video files are .mp4 and the subtitle files are ,srt

Windows Media player (as far as I know) does not support subtitle files, hence you will have to use a different media player, such as Media Player Classic-MPC (installed by downloading K-Lite Codec Pack by clicking on this link: Download K-Lite Codec Pack 10.6 FULL ) or VLC (download from here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html)

Once you use one of these players, you do not have to do anything else to enable the subtitles, just ensure that the subtitle files are in the same folder as the mp4 video tutorials. The subtitles will show up automatically when the video is played using MPC or VLC.

I had transcripts for only the first 3 videos, two of them done by Maria and one by Augusto, If someone can transcribe the remaining two videos, I would be happy to create the subtitles for those as well.

Regards
Salil.

Augusto,

No I couldn't finish the job before I got too busy with other things but give me a week and let me see if I can finish this.

Hi Salil

You had started the job of inserting subtitles on the Movie Maker tutorials. Have you managed to finish this? And if so could you share them with the college teachers. The voices on those tutorials are pretty difficult to decipher even for me.

Thanks
Augusto

Dear Students

I'm sending you some tutorials for using Windows Movie Maker. Because the accents of those who made the tutorials are rather difficult to understand, our expert on DST Mr Salil Konkar subtitled them.

Three of the tutorials have been subtitled. Another two require to be subtitled. If any among you are ready and willing to go through the remaining two tutorials and transcribe - that is write out what is spoken -then please volunteer. I'll send them to you.

Better still if you feel you could do the transcribing and subtitling yourself you could contact Salil Konkar <salil....@gmail.com> and find out how subtitling could be done.

This would be a very important skill, because I am going to allow all those who want to make their DSTs in Konkani, Marathi, Hindi, etc to do so provided they subtitle their videos in English. Those of you who will help them I will reward suitably  in the exams, but more important you will have learned something useful.

Looking forward to your response.

Augusto
