If we were to split them out immediately, bug fixes would not be synced between the existing dspace-6_x maintenance branch and the new GiHub projects. Once 6.x bug fixing slows (likely near 7.0 release), we should do the following: Split the dspace-xmlui subfolder of the dspace-6_x maintenance branch out into a "DSpace/DSpace-XMLUI" project in GItHub. Split the dspace-jspui subfolder of the dspace-6_x maintenance branch out into a "DSpace/DSpace-JSPUI" project in GItHub. Re: Create separate GitHub Projects for XMLUI and JSPUI (post-6.x) Brief update: As the XMLUI and JSPUI are still changing on the 6.x branch, this work to separate them out into a separate GitHub project is currently "on hold".  It likely will be revisited once DSpace 7.0 has been released (and presumably the XMLUI/JSPUI changes will be much less frequent). Until then, the XMLUI/JSPUI on the `dspace-6_x` code branch is the latest version of those UI codebases. It will eventually be the version that is split off. https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/tree/dspace-6_x
