Hi Sarah,

Just to second Alan's note... the best/latest documentation on customizing / configuring the User Interface is in the official DSpace Docs, specifically the subpages under the "User Interface" section: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/User+Interface

If you are looking for a higher level overview with some basic examples, there was a detailed Workshop done last year at OR2021. However, the examples there are based on 7.0, and there have been some changes to configuration & theming since then (especially in 7.2).  This means that while the examples are likely still mostly accurate, there may be some small differences in 7.2 (or later). https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+7+at+OR2021#DSpace7atOR2021-%22GettingStartedwithDSpace7.0%22BasicWorkshop(3hours)

We also always welcome specific questions on mailing lists or other support channels: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Support   Questions & findings can often help others learn alongside you and can help us all to realize where documentation may be lacking or could be improved.  (The docs are created/managed by volunteers, so we also do welcome contributions as you learn more...get in touch if you are interested.)

Finally, we do have some tentative plans for an updated online DSpace 7 workshop (or two) this coming Fall.  No dates have been set as of yet, but once those are finalized obviously announcements will be sent to all lists.
