Hi all

Is it possible to enable ORCID iD badge to display like it is here https://tore.tuhh.de/entities/product/BalticSeaSandLabTests/researchdatadetails

I have read through the documentation to enable researcher profile and such but it does not seem to work. We also have member API credentials.

Thanks,
Tuan

Hello Tuan,

on https://tore.tuhh.de we are using DSpace-CRIS and not generic DSpace. DSpace-CRIS comes with a special layout of the itempages (like https://tore.tuhh.de/entities/product/BalticSeaSandLabTests/researchdatadetails) and this layout can be configured to show the ORCID badge. I know, that it was planned to port the display of the ORCID badge to DSpace 7.6 [1], but I don't know, if that really happened (maybe the developers of DSpace-CRIS at 4Science can say more about that).

Hope that helps a bit further, best regards

Oliver

Hello Tuan,
it is currently not possible to display the ORCID badge in a plain DSpace fully respecting the ORCID logo guidelines.

In short, in DSpace you can eventually know that the ORCID stored in a person item is authenticated but the user is allowed to alter this information manually, so it cannot be fully trusted.
It is also more complicated if you want to display it on a linked publication or product as there is no process in DSpace currently that allow the researcher to "claim" a publication or eventually to discard misattribution.
Organization policies could eventually alleviate/solve such issues.

These issues are not present in DSpace-CRIS but the solution depends on advanced capabilities of DSpace-CRIS (granular security, management of references, content notification at the researcher level, etc.) that have been not yet ported in DSpace and that would require a not trivial effort and discussion.

I will talk also about that today, in a ORCID promoted webinar https://dspace.lyrasis.org/22804-2/

Best regards,
Andrea
