[dspace-tech]: DSpace 6.3 browsing issue

Dear DSpace community,

We have upgraded our repository to version 6.3, and noticed that there is a bug with the Browse functionality.

If you try to browse by Author, and then filter by any letter. Then, decided to type any letter or word in the search box and hit go. The page will be redirected to “Browse by Issued Date”. The expected behavior is to show the results for the end-user query typed in the search box.

I have validated this, with DSpace demo (https://demo.dspace.org/xmlui/ ), and faced the same issue.

It is a known bug of 6.3 version: https://jira.lyrasis.org/browse/DS-3945

It should be solved in the future 6.4 version, but you can also apply the patch to 6.3: https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pull/2113
