Hi all,

we found an inconsistent behavior while combining versioning (enabled by
default) and displaying the identifier during submission.

New instead of versioned identifiers were created.

We reproduced it with a Vanilla Instance of DSpace 7.6.1 with no
customizations

Following the documentation at:
https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Submission+User+Interface#SubmissionUserInterface-Configuringthe%22Identifiers%22step

So, just enabling the identifier step in the tradional form
and setting
identifiers.submission.register = true

Now, when versioning an item, the version gets a new identifier not an
identifer.2.

Disabling identifiers.submission.register = true, results in versioned
identifiers. But only up to version 3, then the versioning is disabled.

Is this a documentation issue, missing additional config parameters or a
bug, then I will fill an issue at github.

sunny greetings

Claudia

Hi Claudia,

That does sound like unexpected behavior.  However, before reporting a bug ticket, I'd highly recommend testing it again in a later version of DSpace 7.6.x.  The latest is DSpace 7.6.5 and there's been a large number of bug fixes between 7.6.1 and 7.6.5...so, it's possible this has already been fixed.  (I did a quick search around and couldn't find whether this was specifically fixed, but there were general fixes to item versioning that could have fixed this bug)

Hi Tim & all,

I did search the issues as well, but did not find anything really relating.

Just set up two 9.1 instances for our upgrade. Will try to reproduce it
on a vanilla 9.1 instance and report back.

Sunny greetings

Claudia
