Hello all,

In our existing DSpace 7.6.5 repository, we have three metadata fields for date in our thesis collection that are autofilled: dc.date.accessioned, dc.date.available, and dc.date.issued.  For some reason, dc.date.available doesn't show up in our DSpace 8.x repository, and dc.date.issued isn't showing up consistently.  Does anyone have any ideas why this might be?

Also, how useful is it having these three dates?  Usually they all end up getting set to the same date.  I thought dc.date.accessioned was supposed to be the date the submission was created in the system, dc.date.available should be when the thesis is publicly available, and dc.date.issued is the date the student actually submits their thesis, but if the same date is in that field, I'm not sure what's happening.

Thanks,
Carolyn.

Hi Carolyn.

Does  dc.date.available  appear among the metadata displayed on the full item page?

If yes: then the theme you are using is not customized to display dc.date.available.
If no: the field simply doesn't exist on the items. It is also possible to configure dspace to hide certain metadata fields from public view but I suspect this isn't the case for you.

Julia Gilmore pointed out to me that the dc.date.available is actually in the breaking changes for 8.x: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/spaces/DSDOC8x/pages/315720591/Release+Notes#ReleaseNotes-BreakingChanges .  Thanks Julia <3  The dc.date.issued relied on a customization in our submission form.
