Author browse link on item view

I have been searching and could not find any info on how to enable the Author to link to the browse by author. On the DSpace demo site, some records have author linked and some records don't have author linked. What is the criteria that determine if an author is displayed as text vs as a link.

This record, the author is NOT linked.

But, this record the author IS linked.

Seems to be how ds-metadata-field-wrapper handles lists vs plain text in the metadata field. I thought that metadata was an array, but apparently not always…

I think I have followed all the configuration steps, but I still don't see the Author as link to browse by author. I have done index-authority and index-discovery -b but still nothing works. What did I miss?

Hi,

It sounds like there may be a bug there. I think that's also what Andrew is referencing -- there's some difference in behavior based on which display is being used for the author names.

If someone can figure out a way to *reliably reproduce this* (both a scenario where the author name *is linked* and one where it's *not linked*), then I'd recommend creating a bug ticket in  https://github.com/DSpace/dspace-angular/issues   

(However, keep in mind that linking to the Items on the demo site is *not stable* because the demo site resets all content after one week.  So, some of the prior links shared are already broken.)

Generally, anytime you can reproduce an issue on demo.dspace.org, that's a sign that it's *likely a bug*.
