Hello DSpace Community,

We are currently working with DSpace 9 and would like to know whether there is a recommended way to expose record update information through the DSpace user interface.

Specifically, when an item or its metadata is modified, we would like users to be able to see this information directly from the Angular UI.

Ideally, we would like to display information such as:

  • The date and time of the latest modification.
  • The user who performed the update.
  • A history of modifications made to the record.
  • The date and time of each modification.
  • The user responsible for each modification.
  • If possible, which metadata fields were changed.
  • Previous versions of the item or metadata, when versioning is available.

Our main requirement is to provide traceability of changes, so that it is possible to identify not only when a record was modified, but also which authenticated DSpace user performed each update.

We would like to know whether DSpace 9 already stores this information and whether it can be exposed through the Angular UI using the REST API, provenance metadata, versioning, audit information, or another existing mechanism.

Is this functionality available out of the box or through configuration?

If not, we would appreciate any recommendations, documentation, REST API endpoints, extensions, or implementation examples that could be used to display a record modification history including the user responsible for each change.

Thank you in advance for your guidance.
