upgrade from version 1.8 to version 6.3

Dear, upgrade from version 1.8 to version 6.3, having the following problems:

1.- I cannot send emails to be added as a new user, configure the parameters in local.cfg with a gmail account, disable security for the gmail account, postfix is configured and the server sends emails.

2.- I cannot add "advanced search" on the main page.

3.- How can I add the search by letters on all pages (where the entire alphabet appears)

4 .- How to get the menu discover side of all pages, I could only get it from the main page and I also need to get the last shipments of all pages.

I have searched the whole group, and I have not been able to resolve these issues, I am grateful for the help.
