Dear all,

I have a specific requirement wherein the contents of a collection will be harvested from an external source but should go through a workflow process for screening. I found these posts: https://groups.google.com/g/dspace-tech/c/jZ1b023bOrQ/m/bTGApR4BBwAJhttps://groups.google.com/g/dspace-tech/c/I23AuCjmczY/m/p-PqglT_BgAJhttps://groups.google.com/g/dspace-tech/c/egjqucmI1ig/m/GGeklEr4BgAJ. None of those posts received a reply, and I'm wondering if this is possible. I understand that for a collection where its contents were harvested, the items were ingested automatically. I did try creating a workflow (Submitters and Editors) before initiating the harvest, specifying the user in the CLI as the submitter, and yet the items were approved/ingested automatically.

My other option is just to create a private collection and just move the 'approved' items to a public collection but going through the workflow process is still my best option, I hope this is possible.

I am using version 8.0 by the way.

Thanks in advance!

I did a brief search of the code, and this appears to be a missing
feature. That is: the harvesting code builds a WorkspaceItem and
installs it directly, ignoring workflow.

It seems reasonable to me that one might wish to enable or disable
workflow for harvesting, but it will require some development. I
would suggest that you file a feature-request Issue on Github.

It seems to me that workflow should be on every path by which an Item
enters the repository. Perhaps it should be factored out of
submission, harvest, import etc. into a class which is common to them
all.
