Kia ora Rachel,

I think you will need a DSpace admin account when you set up integration between DSpace and Elements.

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all well! I'm reaching out to ask if anyone would be willing to share their insight about Symplectic Elements integrations with DSpace 7. If anyone has successfully integrated the DSpace feed in Elements with their D7 instance I would love to hear from you.

We have encountered significant errors and roadblocks when Elements attempts to harvest withdrawn and embargoed items in D7. What's unique about this particular setup, is that this DSpace instance has only provided a non-administrative account to the Elements system therefore, when it attempts to access item endpoints for embargoed and withdrawn items it's hitting HTTP 403s.

If anyone has any insight about an Elements and DSpace integration please drop us a line at in...@scholaris.ca . We would love to hear from you! Thank you!

Kind Regards,
~Rachel

Hi Yanan!

Thank you so much for your response! We have privacy and security constraints for this DSpace instance therefore it is a custom setup. We have been told in the broader DSpace community, institutions do generally provide admin access however, what we have encountered are concerns about granting Elements write access with RT2 and providing elevated level of privileges to a third-party.

Yanan would you mind sharing, when this integration was proposed for your DSpace instance, was it a mandatory system requirement? Did your team have any concerns about access level? And/or how is your current experience with the administrative account setup for Elements? We are trying to find a workaround to satisfy both the security/privacy needs and the needs of the Elements system. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Kind Regards,
Rachel
