All,
We are running DSpace 9.2 with matomo enabled.

Users with ad blockers enabled (specifically uBlock, but possibly others) prevent the downloading of matomo.js. In the java console you will see:

Failed to load resource: net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT

in terms of page views, searches, etc this is harmless except that the event is not tracked in matomo.  However, for file downloads, the application simply hangs on the download page;  the bitstream neither displays in the browser nor downloads to disk.  Toggling uBlock off results in a successful download.

Matomo users / developers: is this something you have encountered?  This feature does not seem to be used on the demo site, so I cannot duplicate it there.  Our workaround is to disable matomo on the backend, but this of course means that NO downloads are tracked for any user.

Thoughts?

Hi Bill,

I think there's already a bug ticket for this at https://github.com/DSpace/dspace-angular/issues/4991 and a potential fix at https://github.com/DSpace/dspace-angular/pull/5001

If you have time or interest in helping to test the potential fix, please add any feedback you may have into the PR itself.  Currently, that PR is waiting for testers/reviewers before it would be merged and backported.

Tim,
Thanks, I searched yesterday.  I don't know how I missed this.

... and yes, I will be testing this sooner rather than later.
