DSpace 6.3 CAS Authentication

Hello All,

I have been trying to follow the few guides there are out there and have come to a stop.

I would like to enable CAS authentication for our DSpace 6.3 server.  The guides on lyrasis tell you to enable it, but obviously that doesn't work without a few other parts. Is there any help out there or has anyone managed to do this ?  Or will it be implemented in version 7 ?

Hi Jeff,

At this point in time, there is not an out-of-the-box CAS Authentication plugin for DSpace.  Here's a list of the available out-of-the-box plugins for v6.x : https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC6x/Authentication+Plugins

There's an old ticket discussing CAS authentication: https://jira.lyrasis.org/browse/DS-1028  Unfortunately though, it has not yet been implemented (to my knowledge) and remains open.  That said, if anyone has build a custom CAS authentication plugin, the DSpace developers are always interested in new contributions.

Currently, there are no plans to add new authentication plugins in v7.x, as that upcoming release concentrates more on a new UI / REST API.  So, as of right now, the pre-7.0 codebase uses & support the same authentication plugins as 6.x.  (It's always possible plans could change if a volunteer offers to donate or implement CAS authentication, but it's not currently on the 7.x roadmap.)
