We had to move our DSpace instance from one server to another. I build DSpace on the new server. I dumped everything out of postgres and loaded it into the other server. I moved the assetstore directory to the new server. I re-indexed. DSpace starts. I can see the communities and collections. I can search. If I try to browse by anything, I get an internal server error. Any suggestions? Thanks

Can you give us the stack trace of the internal server error? It'll be
in the source of the page that fails.

Cheers,

Richard

This appears to be the same thing we're going through.

Hi,

What version of DSpace are you using, and associated Postgres version?  Perhaps this post is of some help:

else put "Cannot change transaction isolation level in the middle of a transaction" into the mailing list searches for dspace-devel and dspace-tech on sourceforge and see what comes up.  We've definitely encountered this before.

we are using DSpace-1.2, postgresql-8.0.2, jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9

DSpace 1.2 isn't compatible with PostgreSQL 8.0.x.  You can either:
  • use PostgreSQL 7.4.x
  • Upgrade to 1.2.2 when it's released (later this week hopefully!)
  • Apply the attached patch from Mike Simpson, which will make DSpace 1.2 compatible

Hi
I think this error is related with the upgrade to Postgres8 and was
solved in dspace1.2.2

Hello,

In order to figure out what the real underlying error is, you'll have
to look at the DSpace Log files.

Please see the "How to Troubleshoot an Error" page for information
about finding the error in the log files:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Troubleshoot+an+error

Once you locate the error in the logs, if you cannot figure out the
problem, feel free to send the full error message to this listserv.
Much more information is available on the above wiki page.

Good Luck,

- Tim

Do you have a firewall on your server that is stopping external traffic to Tomcat's 8080 port?

Thanks,
