AIP backup creates lots of files when it should have created only one file.

Dear all,

Here is the command that I used:-

[dspace]/bin/dspace packager -d -a -t AIP -e <my-email> -i 123456789/0 sitewide-dspace77-aip.zip

I copied the files to BACKUP folder and I zipped them.

I see 33 files when I should see just 1 file ( sitewide-dspace77-aip.zip ).

Here is a list of all files created.

Where do I misunderstand? Why do I see 33 files when I should see just one ?

it says :-

Again, this would export the DSpace Site AIP into the file "sitewide-aip.zip", and export AIPs for all Communities, Collections and Items into the same directory as the Site AIP.

Is this the answer to my original query ?

Hi Ashim,

Yes, the AIP Backup and Restore script creates a separate Zip file for every object (Community, Collection, Item) in your DSpace.  So, if you have 100 Items, 2 Communities and 2 Collections, you'll end up with 105 Zip files (one for Site, 2 Communities, 2 Collections and 100 Items).
