DSpace CRIS showing Title only in current language - is that expected?

Hi all,

I just noticed an unexpected behaviour in our DSpace-CRIS 7:

If a publication has multiple titles or abstracts in different languages, only one of them is visible in the UI, both in details and full view. In our case it seems to be the one with "EN" as a language, even though our UI is in German (DE). If I remove the language attribute or enter an unknown code, all copies are visible.

Questions:
- Is this behaviour specific to DSpace-CRIS or is it normal DSpace behaviour?
- Can it be turned off somehow? We do want to have all Versions visible as we do not plan on providing the UI in multiple languages.

One possible workaround would be to use ISO632-2 language codes with 3 letters (eng instead of en) for title and abstract - then all versions are visible but that feels a bit like a hack.

Cheers
Jarmo

Hello Jarmo,

from what I know, this is a specific DSpace-CRIS function. It's true, that DSpace-CRIS will only show the metadata in the language corresponding to the language chosen by the user. But in contrast to what you are descibing, the language of the UI should be taken to choose, which metadata will be displayed.
This behavior cannot be turned off! But I guess it would be possible just to set no language at all (maybe it also works with your proposal to use different language codes - I have not tried that).

Best
Oliver
