Configuring DSpace 8 to assign ARKs PIDs in addition to default PIDs

Dear Team,

We currently have deployed DSpace 6.x, 7.x and 8 among our universities. We are introducing ARKS PIDs as additional identifiers to default handle and DOI pids. However, we ran into challenges of integrating ARKS server to DSpace 8 for automatic assigning of identifiers during workflow of submitting an item. We have tried  available online communities and resources to no avail. 

Kindly assist with necessary guide or materials to achieve this. This will be of great benefits to our member institutions.

Does your DOI registrar also offer ARK services? I believe that at
least one does. That would make things simpler.

From where do you plan to get ARK services? You may need to write a
new IdentifierProvider implementation. You might read some of the
existing implementations in 'dspace-api/src/main/java/org/dspace/identifier**'.

Hi Mark,

We have our ARK services deployed on a separate server different from the DSpace 8 platform, however, writing a new IdentifierProvider implementation is where we are having challenges.

Kindly assist with the guide on implementing new IdentifierProvider on DSpace 8 .
