Hi.
I want to know if it is possible to modify the Dspace input form and place a drop down list and according to the value chosen in that drop down list, different fields are displayed to fill
Thans, Gonzalo.

Hi Gonzalo,

Assuming you are talking about the Submission Input Forms, those are configurable.  See the Submission User Interface documentation at:  https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC6x/Submission+User+Interface

The section of that page which describes configuring the Input Forms (via input-forms.xml) starts here: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC6x/Submission+User+Interface#SubmissionUserInterface-CustomMetadata-entryPagesforSubmission

If this doesn't answer your question, please send us more information (to this mailing list) regarding what you are trying to accomplish.

Good luck,

Tim

Hi Tim

I am trying to modify the submission input form to include inter-dependent dropdown fields (cascading) such as if I select Animals: I see the next dropdown option display : cat, dog, horse and if I select fruits I see: orange, apple, banana, or depending on the selection of the dropdown field, show or not other fields to fill.

thanks in advance.

Gonzalo

Hello Gonzalo,

Unfortunately, DSpace doesn't support cascading dropdowns out-of-the-box.  You'd likely need to look for a third-party library (perhaps a Javascript library) to help you achieve this sort of customization.

This question was asked by someone else last year, and it was noted then that it might be possible to build a custom feature like this using JQuery: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dspace-tech/7w05ODbIEKA/TmcGAssYAgAJ

I'm not aware of anyone who has done this though. But, if someone has built such a custom feature, hopefully they will share it here.

Hello
When I get to where I have to load the type of CC license, the form behaves the way I want, that is, if I choose a CC license, the items related to the CC license appear, but if I choose another type of license, the related items to CC license do not appear.
That is the kind of behavior I want to achieve.
I attach the images that illustrate what I say
in the item1 image, the CC license type is still not selected, as soon as I choose the CC license, certain fields appear to load data. that is shown in the image item2
Thank you
Gonzalo
