Hello!
Please check your dspace.log for more detail info about the case.

Might, you meet with the same as we do repeatedly, if the error in dspace.log is like this:
2025-09-10 13:18:02,403 WARN  unknown 58228b6c-78d7-44f0-934c-d85a5218489c org.dspace.app.rest.exception.DSpaceApiExceptionControllerAdvice @ Request is invalid or incorrect (status:400 exception: Failed to parse multipart servlet request; nested exception is java.io.IOException: The temporary upload location [/usr/share/tomcat/work/Catalina/localhost/server] is not valid at: org.springframework.web.multipart.support.StandardMultipartHttpServletRequest.handleParseFailure(StandardMultipartHttpServletRequest.java:127))
2025-09-10 13:18:02,404 WARN  unknown unknown org.dspace.app.rest.exception.DSpaceApiExceptionControllerAdvice @ Request is invalid or incorrect (status:400 exception: Failed to parse multipart servlet request; nested exception is java.io.IOException: The temporary upload location [/usr/share/tomcat/work/Catalina/localhost/server] is not valid at: org.springframework.web.multipart.support.StandardMultipartHttpServletRequest.handleParseFailure(StandardMultipartHttpServletRequest.java:127))

This is a problem of user/group write access to Tomcat/Spring working directories as listed in the dspace.log. The Tomcat or Spring (depending on dSpace version) must have write rights to them, including potential original directory, if the mentioned are just symlinks. We meet the case, that some background process, might in Almalinux we use, changes these rights and causes the upload error then.

Best!

On our side, we have tried all possible methods, and this issue is not showing anything even in the logs. So I have failed to find a solution. I even used AI tools, but without success. The system logs do not show anything.

If there is anyone who can assist me, please let me know so we can arrange a time via my WhatsApp number(+255 656 967000). I can share AnyDesk or UltraViewer access so that you can connect and help me resolve the issue.

Hi Kaboda,

Since you mentioned the system logs aren't showing anything, have you checked if there were any recent changes made to the directory permissions? Specifically, please verify if the Tomcat or Spring working directories have had their write access modified recently, as this could be preventing the files from uploading even if it doesn't trigger a specific error in the dspace.log.

Best regards,

Titus J Sam
