Hello, 

Some of the researchers at Georgia Institute of Technology have shown interest in using their ORCID id to login to the IR using DSpace. Can you tell me what the benefits of this would be in our DSpace 7.6 instance? I manage the IR and wonder what this would mean for depositing content?

Hi Vanesa,

Just in case you never got a response, I wanted to point you at the documentation for the "Login via ORCID" feature which describes some of it's benefits: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/ORCID+Integration#ORCIDIntegration-LoginviaORCID

Basically, it's just another login option which you can choose to provide. However, since it's hooked up to ORCID, you can optionally allow users to sync data to/from ORCID (if you enable Researcher Pages and Entities as well).  This allows users to more easily send their publications to their ORCID profile, and similarly allow an easier way to import documents into DSpace based on the metadata in their ORCID profile.

We are conducting a study on the impact of cybersecurity measures on access to resources in digital repositories in Africa, with particular focus on the potential conflicts between security and access to resources.
