This may be of interest to people using the v2 SHERPA API with DSpace (journal / policy lookup).

(DSpace 10 will use the new API)

Cheers

Open policy finder API update: migration period extended

Dear open policy finder/Sherpa API users,

Following our recent announcement about the new open policy finder (OPF) API platform, I’m writing to inform you that the migration window from the legacy Sherpa services API to the OPF API has been extended until the end of July 2026.

We encourage all users to complete the transition of their API integrations before this date. After July 2026, the legacy Sherpa services API will be switched off.

Please note that new API key requests will not be accepted during this migration period. You’ll find further details in our help section.

Reasons for the API update

  • As the research landscape continues to evolve, open policy finder needs to be able to respond more quickly and effectively to changing user needs

  • Over the past few years, we’ve been modernising and improving the former Sherpa services software to make it more robust, secure and responsive

  • The work to enhance the API is a key part of this wider modernisation effort

  • This new API platform will provide a stronger foundation for improving how users interact with our data, enabling meaningful updates to our data models and how they are delivered via the API

Accessing the new API

  • Information on how to use the API is available here, including details on accessing the new platform and technical guidance

  • To support a seamless transition, all existing API keys have already been migrated to the new platform

  • All query paths from the former Sherpa services API have been replicated, and data continues to be returned in the same format with which you’re familiar

If you’d like more information or support, please contact he...@jisc.ac.uk.

Many thanks,

Karen Jackson
