Peruvian Repositories Disappeared from Google Scholar After Upgrading to DSpace 7+

Dear DSpace community,

We have noticed that several institutional repositories in Peru that recently upgraded to DSpace version 7 or higher have experienced a complete disappearance from Google Scholar’s index. These repositories had consistent visibility in Scholar when running on DSpace 5 or 6, but after migrating to version 7.x, they no longer appear in search results, even after several months.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Are there known configuration changes or metadata rendering issues in DSpace 7+ that could explain this sudden drop in indexing?

We would appreciate any insights or best practices regarding Scholar compatibility with DSpace 7, including recommended sitemap structures, metadata exposure settings, or changes in HTML rendering that could be affecting crawler behavior.

Hi Raúl,

You should check our Search Engine Optimization guidelines for DSpace 7, which were written based on feedback from the Google Scholar team.

Especially make sure that your robots.txt looks correct, and that your Sitemaps are enabled & working.  You also should verify you are running in production mode, which ensures that server side rendering is enabled.

Assuming you've followed those guidelines, there should be no issues with indexing your DSpace 7 site in Google Scholar.
