yo may want to automatically compress the log files when they are rolled.
Now there are two files: for the DSpace server itself, and for CLI applications.
The lines to be changed are these (see an example here):
Compressing the log files by default has been discussed several times in this mailing list, but I haven't found the time to send a Pull Request to the upsdtream repository.

I have a repository installed in a research center, basically in the library. Project logs have been uploaded, but every so often my space becomes saturated, and I have to keep deleting the logs that grow too large. What should I do to prevent this problem from occurring?
