HTTP Status 405 - Method Not Allowed - Trying to access http://<ServerIP>:8080/rest/items

Hello group,

I'm trying to access the Dspace Rest API through browser and server terminal and on both I'm getting HTTP Status 405 - Method Not Allowed, when accessing http://<ServerIP>:8080/rest/items.

Does anybody knows what should be happening?

you can disable https see
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/REST+API#RESTAPI-InstallingtheRESTAPI
This should not be used in production.

Hi Nataila,

    It is a guess, did you are to access the main page of the rest-api, I mean that one with the description about the services? I am asking you because I see that you are using the http instead https, default you it is https, so you changed it in the rest-api web.xml, right? If you configuration is fine, next step should be look at the logs.

I checked and I'm accessing it with http and not seeing the page the description about the services, just the services titles like the picture bellow

And I just access it from http://SERVERIP:8080/rest.

Communities works

Collection works

Itens not allowed

bitstrems not allowed

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Natalia,

    The request that you are send is a post or a get? Because in case of a POST  request, you should be logged and use SSL. Is it a DSpace 5, right?

Hi Luiz, I'm trying to get all the items in DSpace.

It seems very strange that I'm not seeing the information page when accessing /rest path and either commands as /rest/login works on server terminal.

I'm using Dspace 4.3 version
