Hi,

I thought this may have been turned on out of the box, but it does not appear to be working for me. Is there any guide/steps as far as how to enable this (in v7.1.1)?

I believe all the config and registry things align (no local modifications were made) but I am am not able to search for any document contents? Just looking for this to function for Word/PDF/TXT primarily. At the moment none appear to work. Is this supposed to happen during/immediately following depositing an item? Or a scheduled job that is perhaps not running?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

DSpace will only perform full-text indexing if you schedule its "Media Filters" to run (via the './dspace filter-media' script).  This script also enables thumbnails to be generated.  See the docs at https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Mediafilters+for+Transforming+DSpace+Content

Usually sites enable this via a Cron Job.  See some sample Cron configs at https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Scheduled+Tasks+via+Cron

If you have further questions let us know on this list.
