Hello all,

While attempting to deal with an unrelated issue, my IT team recommended adding a Reviewer Group to one of our collections and adding an existing subgroup ('Theses') to this group.  Before this change, the 'Theses' Group was able to 'Edit' incoming submissions, after the creation of the Reviewer group/addition of the Theses Group to this group, that button/option disappeared.  We managed, briefly, the remove the Reviewer group, but the 'Edit' option then appeared only for new items in the pool.  On trying to delete the Reviewer group an additional time, we receive the error:
022724_ErrorDeletingReviewerGroup.PNG
I've checked with all my users and none of them have tasks in their workflow.  Can anyone think of why this is failing to delete?

Thanks,
Carolyn.

Hi Carolyn,

I've been learning about workflows in DSpace 6.x and 7.x recently, and it sounds like your IT recommended you to add a Final Editor (or possibly Editor) group to a Reviewer group, and reviewers can only accept or reject an item. Are you in version 6.x or 7.x? If you are in 7.x and are a system admin, you should be able to see all items that are currently in workflows. It might be easier to meet on a Zoom call to look at this in real time. I'd be happy to look at it with you if you'd like. Just let me know.

Thanks,

Hello Yvonne,

Yes, thanks, that's exactly what happened.

So previously, we had an 'Editors' group (with member subgroups 'Admin' and 'Theses') and a 'Final Editors' group (also members 'Admin' and 'Theses') which corresponded to a workflow like:
Step 1: Claim, then Edit | Approve | Reject
Step 2: Claim, then Edit | Approve

Now, we have a Reviewers group containing just 'Theses', which corresponds to a workflow like:
Step A: Claim, then Approve | Reject
Step B: Claim, then Edit | Approve | Reject
Step C: Claim, then Edit | Approve

Step A has been created by the Reviewers group and needs to be removed, because it's adding that redundant step.  Theses can still be accepted to the repository with the current configuration though, so at least it's not preventing us from getting our work done entirely.  I would like to get rid of that redundant Step A though since it's kind of confusing... which requires the deletion of the Reviewers group.

Thanks,
Carolyn.

Hello Carolyn,

I wonder if you need to delete the Theses group before you can delete the Reviewers group? Then re-create the Theses group within the Editors and Final Editors....

I'm curious about how this turns out, if you wouldn't mind keeping me updated.

Thank you,
Yvonne
