Hi All,

I am trying to add bitstream descriptions in 7.3  for items I ingested ages ago.

My CSV looks like this –

id            2c987a27-62dd-435e-b918-1227ff18392c

collection             11343/339196

dc.title   Testing adding bitstream description

file         TEST UPLOAD FOR 7.pdf::Title:Published version

The ingest does not add description as anticipated.

How can  add retrospectively add descriptions to bitstreams?

Thanks,

Bruce.

Hi Bruce,

At this point in time, I believe the Batch Metadata Editing tool (import CSV) in DSpace can only modify metadata of *Item* objects, and not of Bitstreams.  https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Batch+Metadata+Editing

If you are instead using a custom tool of some sort which provides a different CSV format (as your CSV format is unfamiliar to me), you may need to ask the creator of that tool for help/support.

Hi Bruce,

This is what I use in the csv to add the bitstream description during batch ingest:

Filename.pdf::Version:Published Version

That said, we’re an Atmire client using OR5 (DSpace 5) so this may not work for you. (We’re migrating to OR7 (DSpace 7) soon.
