Hello DSpace Community,

I’m Mariam, a librarian by profession, with an interest in systems and digital repositories. I’m working on configuring DSpace for our digital library and would like assistance with disabling the download, print, and copy functions for our content so that users can view the content only.

If anyone has experience with these settings or can point me to the right resources, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

DSpace does not have all of these features at this time.

You can disable download by providing access restrictions to the files (bitstreams).  By providing access restrictions, then only some users will be able to download those files.

However, there is no way to disable print or copy functionality within DSpace.  If you are able to download the file, then you will be able to print it (unless the file itself has disabled this feature).

If someone on this list has found a way to customize DSpace to add these features, hopefully they will share it with you.

Tim
