Dear all,
The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) will be conducting the closing workshop for The Integrative Approach for 10 Tb/in2 Magnetic Recording Research Programme on 8 November, 2013 at Discovery Theatre, Level 4, Matrix Building, Biopolis, Singapore 138671.
Launched on 1 March, 2010, the programme aims to pre-position the local hard disk drive research community for the ultra-high recording density era as the areal density of the hard disk drive enters the uncharted multi-Tb/in2 regime.
The R&D of hard disk drive is highly challenging as it is both inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary in nature, involving many disciplines in science and engineering. We are therefore pleased to share with you the results of our efforts - the 12 principal investigators under the programme will be presenting their research outcomes and achievements in areas that include head and media, head-disk interface, mechanical-servo systems and signal processing. Please refer to the document enclosed for more details.
The workshop is also intended to be a platform for all from the hard disk drive and hard disk drive related industries to network, exchange ideas and explore future collaborations It aspires to mark the beginning of another wave of efforts in pushing the envelope of recording density of the hard disk drive, which is poised to play a critical role in the data storage world for many years to come.
