Dear Staff/Students,
The College of Alice & Peter Tan (CAPT) is holding its first Special Talk this semester with a guest lecture by Professor Lui Pao Chuen (Advisor, National Research Foundation, Prime Minister’s Office). This talk is open to all staff and students in NUS.
Full details can be found below.

Talk Synopsis:
Contrary to conventional thinking that urbanization reduces the amount of vegetation Singapore has shown that increased in the last two decades with urbanization. Our challenge is to increase the development to meet the needs of our population and still maintain the amount of green spaces we now enjoy. The use of underground space for functions that does not need sunlight will help to preserve the amount of green spaces. Our new cities will be planned, designed and built to meet the needs of people in a pleasant environment that will be cooler, quieter and greener for a "Car Less" society. Clean energy options with future generations of nuclear power plant will help to lower our emission of Carbon Dioxide and reduce the cost of production of electricity.
