For anyone wondering what's taking so long, here's a synopsis of what's been happening with the new laser...
First we discovered that it had a bad Power Supply Unit (PSU). Boss Laser Tech Support sent us a new PSU and while we waited for it, we upgraded all the external exhaust venting with new 6" wide ducts (The old ones were 4"). We also attempted to quiet the new fan by encasing it with automotive sound deadening. That experiment quieted the higher frequencies but didn't lower the room's overall decibel rating.
Unfortunately, the first PSU that Boss sent us was the wrong kind. They sent us a second PSU and that one got the machine to turn on. This took us to early January. Since then we've been setting up the laser to run properly. We set up the water chiller, air assist, and camera. Now we're trying to get the laser running at full power. We're in the process of aligning all the laser's mirrors.
Once the laser is running properly we should be in the home stretch to getting people trained. For anyone wanting a time estimate. I think we'll be ready to start training people by the end of March,. We'll try to make it sooner if we can.
Cheers!
