Passing this on to whomever is interested.  Should be a good talk.

Hey,

I just wanted to let you guys know that there is an attempt to get a monthly meetup started. Our first meetup will be this Thursday, it's short notice I'll bring some drinks to make up for it. The group name (totally stolen from SecKC) is SecDSM.

The idea is to have a talk or two regarding something related to network security or information security, provide an opportunity to network with other in the field, etc.

We're meeting at the Gravitate office at 7pm and can go until 9pm.

Access to the building on the lower level is controlled starting at 5pm, so I'll probably hang out a note on the door to call/text and i'll come open the door.

Gravitate, 206 6th Ave, Third Floor, Des Moines, IA 50309

To kick things off I will be giving a talk about our network security monitoring appliances that we built, looking for another talk if anyone wants to volunteer.

There will be some OISF swag to give away (stickers, 2 travel mugs and some leather bound notepads)

Feel free to spread the word and hopefully you can make it out.

The group is just starting up and they dont have a mailing list yet. That's a good suggestion for their first meeting. For now I'll post on this list to keep people updated.

I do not want my info released due to the spam risks.

The new security group is opt-in so you won't need to worry about being included without your explicit request.

I hear there's a new email list being created.  Once it's up I'll send out a message on how to join.
