Hello DSI Studio team,

I currently have .fz files generated from reconstruction using the new version of DSI Studio. However, due to historical reasons with other software, I want to convert them to the .fib.gz format so that MATLAB can read them. I saw “Example 2: Convert .sz or .fz Back to .src.gz or .fib.gz” on https://dsi-studio.labsolver.org/doc/cli_data.html, but that code doesn’t seem to work for .fz files (I got a “ValueError: Matlab 4 files cannot save arrays with more than 2 dimensions” error). So I’m wondering if there’s any other recommended method?

I’ve tried using the old version of DSI Studio to generate new .fib.gz files, but since I’ve already used the new version for subsequent fiber tracking and noticed some differences in results between the two versions, I want to know if there’s a way to directly convert .fz files instead of recreating new .fib files.

If the purpose is to allow MATLAB to read .fz, what we could do is to
use python to convert .fz to .mat file.
There are some example code at https://brain.labsolver.org/

Best regards,
Frank
