Effect Size Threshold

Hi Frank, 

I am using the Feb 25 2026 version of DSI studio. 

I notice the change from the version I was using previously in that connectometry now includes a required effect size threshold. Is there a new set of documentation regarding the use of t threshold and effect size threshold. There had been prior examples of re-running analyses with varying t-thresholds. 

Is there new DSI documentation explaining how to best use the effect size threshold?

Hi Steve,

My apologies for the delayed response.

The effect size threshold is converted from the t-statistic to provide a threshold option that is not sensitive to sample size. A drawback of using t-statistics is that they are highly dependent on sample size, making them less intuitive for establishing thresholds. This newly added threshold is a formula that converts to and from the t-statistic for correlational tractography.
