Hello,

I have just downloaded this software on a computer using Windows 10. Every time I try to upload MRI NIFTI files, I get the message "not 4D file". Do I need to convert these files? This does not seem to be the case on Mac computers.

Thank you!

DSI Studio is designed for analyzing DWI files. If your data are not
DWI, it is unlikely to be used in DSI Studio.

They are DTI files. We have also tried to download and use the software on Windows 7.

It has to be DWI files, which stored as 4D NIFTI.

The DTI file you have is likely only an FA map or ADC map, which
cannot be used here.

Frank

Hi Frank,

I work at the same institution as the original author and am running into the same issue.

We have 4D NIFTI files (saved as .nii files) that we are trying to open "Step T1: Open Source Images" to generate a SRC file. When I select my .nii files, I receive a message that says "Not a 4D NIFTI file". The interesting part is that we do not receive this error message when we load the files from the iMac in our scanner room. However, after we have moved the files onto a new computer and have tried to load those copied files from a Windows laptop and a different iMac, we do receive that error message.

Is there any way that we can generate a SRC file from NIFTI (.nii) files that have been exported onto another computer, or do the SRC files have to be generated from our computer in our scanner room?

Hi,

You may upload the NIFTI file using the upload link provided in the discussion forum, and I will fix DSI Studio for you.

I have uploaded a set of DTI scans with 30 directions and 5 B0 maps (first 5 scans). Thanks for looking into this!

Hi Frank,

I am still receiving the message. I have downloaded the newer version of DSI studio and extracted all of the files. Is there something else that I should be doing?

Thank you,
Katrina

Hi Katrina,

    I updated the program again.

Could you download it and let me know what is the version date shown on the DSI Studio?

Thanks,
Frank

Hi Frank,

I just downloaded the newly updates version of DSI Studio for my Windows computer and am still receiving the error message. The most recently updated version date shown on the DSI Studio for Windows is March 3rd (for the versions I downloaded form the Google Drive & Box -- the OneDrive version is from February).

On a good note, I downloaded the updated version of DSI Studio on my home iMac and was able to successfully open the files! However, all of our lab computers are Windows, so hopefully we will be able to solve the issue for Windows! Thank you for all your help and patience!

Best,
Mary Beth

The updated version should be dated March 5th.
Hope this time it works.

Thanks again for reporting this issue and sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Frank,

I recently downloaded the June 16th version of DSI Studio and have been having the same issue where our 4D NIFTI files are unable to be reconstructed into SRC files on my Windows computer. Is there a way you can update the program again to accommodate our file type on Windows, or should I try downloading an earlier build?

I uploaded one of our .nii files to your Dropbox link as well.

Hi Mary Beth,

Thank you for reporting the problem.
I checked the NIFTI file you upload, and it is a 3D nifti file. I
also used MRIcron to double-check and confirm it is 3D.

DSI Studio will need all DWIs saved as 4D nifti to create an SRC file.

Could you verify again to see if the file is 4D nifti?

Best regards,
Frank

I was told they were 4D NIFTI by our MRI technician but like you said, it looks like they might be 3D instead. I will look into it and let you know if I find out otherwise. Thanks for your help!
