Dear Dr. Yeh,
I am currently attempting to reproduce the Wernicke–Putamen streamline described in the article that I have attached.
Here is what I have done so far: I set both Wernicke’s area and the putamen as ROI regions. I also tried using Wernicke’s area as the seed and the putamen as ROI, and then Wernicke’s area as the seed and the putamen as the end region. Tracking parameters: 10,000 tracts, step size = 1 mm, minimum length = 20 mm, maximum length = 200 mm. I also used your reported parameters in the article.
However, I have been unable to reproduce the streamline shown in the paper. Even after replicating the parameters exactly as described, the streamline remains incomplete. have attached three images for reference: 1-The streamline generated from the DSI Studio -template. 2-The streamline from one healthy subject. 3-The figure from the article showing the Wernicke–Putamen pathway.
I would be very grateful for your advice on two points:
Could there be a methodological issue or additional step required to successfully reconstruct the Wernicke–Putamen tract?
Based on my understanding, deterministic tracking primarily reveals monosynaptic (direct) connections rather than indirect pathways. Therefore, I focused on the corticostriatal tract as the likely pathway between Wernicke’s area and the putamen. Could you please confirm whether this assumption is correct, or if other indirect tracts should also be considered?
I sincerely appreciate your time and guidance on these questions and any troubleshooting suggestions you might have.
Thank you for your time and consideration
Best regards,
Taravat rasooli
