Dear Frank,

I am a student of this practicum and I have completed the assignment of WK2.
But there is something wrong with my laptop last Friday during the practicum, so I missed part of the practicum and didn't see the demo of  "Segment left arcuate fasciculus into the acoustic, visual, and lexical encoding part and assign different colors (reference: Giampiccolo D, Duffau H. Controversy over the temporal cortical terminations of the left arcuate fasciculus: a reappraisal. Brain. 2022 Feb 10.)"

This is my result but it looks odd. The following is my approach:
Step T3 >> load HCP1065.1mm.fib.gz >> Automatic tracking Target: Arcuate_Fasciculus_L
Then perform virtual dissection according to the relative position (qualitative) of fibers segments in figure Giampiccolo et al. 2022

My question is:
1. Am I doing it right? I would like to know your correct approach to doing this.
2. How to determine the accurate Arcuate projections in middle temporal, posterior temporal and fusiform gyri, anterior/middle inferior temporal and fusiform gyri, qualitative or quantitative? If quantitative, does it become Region-Based Fiber Tracking?

I apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your time!
Looking forward to seeing you next practicum WK3 Friday.

Best,
Kengo

Yes, it is right. There is no "correct" way to do this.
The results can be correct or incorrect, and there are all different approaches to achieve.

2. How to determine the accurate Arcuate projections in middle temporal, posterior temporal and fusiform gyri, anterior/middle inferior temporal and fusiform gyri, qualitative or quantitative?

Different people may have different answers. https://academic.oup.com/brain/article/135/12/3529/283152

If quantitative, does it become Region-Based Fiber Tracking?

Not really. ROI-based tracking can be either quantitative or qualitative.
