Hello Frank. Thanks so much for the information and software!

I am currently working through your workshops to learn the software.

While working through workshop 3. In the section for region-based fiber tracking, you walked us through how to save the tract region as a nifti file with the goal of then loading it into each subject's native space. This starts around 45:00 on the youtube video if that is helpful.

I am able to successfully save the nifti file with the tract region.

You then have us open up the individual fib file for this part of the workshop. When I click on the 'atlas" button to move to the next step, a new window pops up with the following:

"affline registration using correlation on CPU
atlas normalization (2/4)
cost 00.0624514"

DSI studio crashes each time it gets to 2/4 at 50%. I have restarted the program and also my computer but it continues to crash.

Do you have any insight on how I can keep this from happening?

Thanks,
Jolene Foster, PT, DPT, NCS

Did you use the most updated "Hou" version? (Nov 16, 2024)
If yes, what is your computer's memory size?

Best regards,
Frank

Hi Frank,
I am a new user within the last week and I when I try to use the atlas button or add an overlay (dti + ax t2 post) the software crashes.
I can open both the fz and nii files simultaneously in different windows of dsi studio, however when I try to add it via slices it crashes.
this is what I see when I try to add the atlas in.

I am using Intel Core i5-10500, with 16 GB ram and x64-based processor (Windows 11). Hope this helps.

Otherwise Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks
Robert

Hi Robert,

I tested the same fib.gz file from the week 3 workshop using the Windows "Hou" CPU version but couldn’t reproduce the crash issue. It seems that the crash during image registration in DSI Studio might be related to hardware-specific factors (though I’m not entirely sure).

For now, I’d recommend trying the process on a different desktop or laptop to check if the same crash occurs, which could help confirm if it’s a hardware-related issue.

I’ll continue to monitor this issue and explore potential solutions on my end.

Thank you again for reporting this bug. I hope we can resolve it soon!

Best regards,

Frank

Hello Frank.

Sorry for the delayed response.

I am the one having issues with workshop 3. I believe the other user, Robert is having a similar issue with loading atlases at a different time. If it helps, my computer specs are below.

I have the "Hou" version.

Processor: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1360P   2.20 GHz, Windows 11
Installed RAM: 64.0 GB (63.6 GB usable).

I am going to move on through the other workshops and will let you know if I keep having issues loading the atlases.

Thanks so much,

Jolene

Sorry about the bug.

Could you let me know the exact steps to reproduce the crash?

Once I can reproduce the issue, I will be able to fix it.

Thanks a lot for your help.
