to DSI Studio

Hi Frank,

I am trying to reproduce the HCP-1065 fiber template starting from the individual subject *.qsdr.fz files. To do this, I ran the GUI version as well as a command-line equivalent of the DSI-Studio Create Population Average tool. These two approaches yielded similar or identical results based on visually comparing whole-brain fiber tractography.  However, the results from the HCP-1065 template are quite different: the preexisting template whole brain tractography is denser especially in the central brain.

For this reason, I’d like to ask the following:

  • Is the CLI command fully equivalent to the GUI tool?  The CLI command I'm using is "dsi_studio --action=tmp --source="data_directory/*.qsdr.fz" --output="output"
  • Is the "Create Population Average" the (only) correct approach to forming a multi-subject template, and if so why does the resulting template appear to have sparser tracts than the preexisting HCP-1065 fiber template?

Thanks for your support!
