Quick question about 'human' template

Hi everyone,

I have nifti files of eddy corrected DWI processed in FSL. I have brought them into DSI_Studio by converting them to an SRC file. I'm using the Hou October 2025 version.

My plan is to use the DTI model and to set the template to human. In older versions of DSI_Studio, there was an option to select the ICBM152 template. Is that now the default? 

My plan is to do this with a group, so I want to make sure I'm using the same template and that all DWI datasets will be normalized into the same space.

Yes, this is the default for the human template.

Hey Frank,

No worries, and thanks for clarifying.

I ask this because I noticed after making a database and scrolling through the thumbnail images of each subject's brain, that the brains are not completely aligned.

You can see what I mean in your video tutorial at minute 40:17 and 42:00. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eeyq06TFNn8 

You'll see as you scroll through each image there can be slight rotation of the brain from subject to subject. 

This is the basis for my initial question about the human template -- I want to be sure each brain in my database is normalized to the same stereotactic space.

There are individual differences. It is impossible to perfectly align
all gyral folding except for major and secondary sulci/gyri.
If we pushed the normalized too hard, meaningful differences will also
be erased.
