I think I am ready to start designing reporting features. SimpleD
Budget simply had a chart for "Total balance" for a page, and I'd
like to implement something far more comprehensive than that and I'd
like to know what people wants..

Here are some of my ideas..

1) Seasonal trend for certain categories.

For example : Shows how much I spend on utility on average for each
seasons. I can then try to allocate more money during certain month
based on the past trend.

2) Balance trend

For example: Shows the amount of page balance within last 12 month to
see if I am getting better or worse at balancing budget.

3) Expense trend

For example: Shows the way I tend to spend entertainment money.. Do I
tend to spend too much during the middle of the month, or beginning of
the month? If I know this, I can watch for spending during certain
time of the month.

etc..

Definitely sounds intriguing, though I don't think I have any
preferences on the matter as of now.

If you haven't before, you should get a look at the online free
version of Quicken ... they have a lot of those sort of things. I
tried it out a while back, but I still prefer to do my regular book
keeping with SimpleD/dsBudget. I'm hooked, haha!

But there's a whole section for "trends" in there, and it sounds
pretty similar to what you're proposing.

Cheers,
~Nate

Actually, even if dsBudget featured some sort of "overall used" graph
like SimpleD did ... I know I would find that immensely helpful.

It's nice to be able to see how much has been spent overall at a
glance rather than having to add up all the remaining amounts for each
bucket.

Hi Soichi

I vote for:

2) Balance trend
For example: Shows the amount of page balance within last 12 month to
see if I am getting better or worse at balancing budget.

I like to see if I'm doing better or worse.

THANKS

Have there been any developments on "reports" because (as I am a brand new user of DS Budget) I do not see an option on how to create any.  I also have no clue how to produce any graphing.  Thanks.

Oops, just saw the comment on graphs....though I would LOVE it if you could do graphs for each category; not just individual expenses.  Thanks.

Hey Soichi,

First of all I love the SimpleD and the new one (dsbudget). I wanted to know if percentage could be added into the new one. The simpleD, when you did your budget you could see what % of each category you were spending. I liked this function and miss it.
