Easy donations to DSA for the frugal

If you are a bit of a cheapskate like me, or shall we say just frugal, Harris Teeter has a couple of promotions going this week that will allow you to donate $5 or more to DSA, at no cost to you, via 'Boxtops for Education', today through next Tuesday only!

If you buy 8 items with the 'Boxtops for Education' label, (like General Mills cereal, Kleenex, or Progresso soup and others), you get a $5 value 'Boxtops for Education' certificate at check-out.

Furthermore, there is a coupon in the H Teeter flyer for $5 off a grocery purchase of $25 or more. And 14 oz Cheerios are on sale at $2.50 a box, and each 14 oz box currently has 2-10 cent 'Box top for Education' labels. So if you were to buy 10 boxes of Cheerios, your cost (with the $5 discount coupon) would be $2 per box. As each box has 2 10 cent coupons, you would accumulate $2 of cereal 'Boxtops for Education' plus the $5 certificate, or a total of $7 to donate to DSA.

If you don't really want 10 boxes of Cheerios, split an order with a friend, or buy some of that other stuff. You need to buy 8 items with 'Boxtops for Education' for the $5 certificate, and need to spend $25 to get the $5 off coupon for yourself.

While you are buying Cheerios and Kleenex at Harris Teeter this weekend, Please take time to RE-LINK YOUR HARRIS TEETER VIC CARD TO DSA (even if you think you are already linked!).

Last year DSA received $1200 from the Harris Teeter VIC program because DSA friends like you linked their VIC cards to our school. VIC cards must be RE-LINKED EVERY YEAR (the link expires at the end of the school year in May and you can re-link starting in August).

When you purchase Store Brand Products at Harris Teeter, DSA will get a portion of the purchase price if your VIC card is linked. Last year 275 people were linked. This year we only have 199 links so far. (If you are linked, this is printed on the bottom of your cash register receipt.)

HERE’S HOW: Ask the cashier at checkout (or ask the Customer Service desk) to link your VIC card to DSA. Our number is 3022 and they can look the number up if you forget it. The cashier can do this with the push of a button. Harris Teeter has a website where you can link it yourself. Your Harris Teeter VIC card must be re-linked for the 2012-2013 year starting August 1. Look for "RELINK" on the Harris Teeter's website.

Or you can email me your VIC card number (or phone number) and last name and I can link it for you!
My email is cun...@niehs.nih.gov<mailto:cun...@niehs.nih.gov>
Every little bit of help really adds up!
THANKS!
Helen
