Harris Teeter, Kroger & Food Lion are all holding bonus Box Tops promotions this month, where you earn as much as 40 bonus Box Tops (printed as a certificate at checkout) for purchasing a certain number of General Mills products.

- Harris Teeter's deal:  www.harristeeter.com/promotions/group_offers.aspx
- Food Lion's deal:  www.foodlion.com/Promotions/BoxTops
- "Big G" cereal deal at Kroger:  www.boxtops4education.com/-/media/BoxTops/FlyersAndDownloads/Assets/Flyers/2013-12-03_BigG_PDF_updated.pdf

Every Box Top is worth 10-cents, so 40 bonus Box Tops is worth $4 to some lucky school of your choice!

You know, I looked at the list of products. They are nearly all manufactured products high in sugar, preservatives, and empty calories.  I am disappointed that food companies use Box Tops as way to get families with kids to use these products. But, I will make a donation to two to schools locally in place of Box Tops.

Thanks for your generosity in a way that works for your family. I agree with you about many of the items.

I stocked up on Progresso Soups yesterday which family members enjoy as reasonable afternoon snacks. Harris Teeter has a special for the next few days where you buy 2 Progresso Soups and get 3 free. I got 10 cans of soup for less than $10 and a coupon for 40 BONUS BOXTOPS worth $4 for our school.

I think FoodLion has a similar special on Progresso Soups where if you buy 6 general mills products you will get 25 BONUS Boxtops.

I can only suggest Glad Bags which have boxtops, but no sugar. Otherwise, Cheerios are the closest General Mills product to real food.

For those people who would like to participate in the Box Tops program, there are also many products that qualify which aren't high in sugar, preservatives and empty calories. Many Green Giant fresh and frozen produce items qualify, as do Horizon Organic milk,  Land O'Lakes butter, Scott toilet paper and paper towels, and some Ziploc products. Here's a link to a webpage of all the participating products. http://www.boxtops4education.com/products/participating-products

I just wanted to make sure that the people in this group understand that there's more to the Box Tops program than just cereal and granola bars - and that it pays to look through the whole list. In my case, I already buy Horizon milk and Land O'Lakes butter. Now that I know they've got "box tops", I'll clip them before the rest heads to the recycling bin.

Hello,

It may be also good to remember that this program is one that it just takes a few box tops from each family to make it a success. There is no expectation of a 100 box tops from one family for example. I know we only contributed 10 or so box tops a year for the years when I actually had control over the foods my children ate. Now, of course, we collect way more box tops!!! :)
